Aussie Citizenship Test — Last updated: 14 May 2026
Paper Rocket Studios ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Aussie Citizenship Test mobile application (the "App") and the Aussie Citizenship Test website (the "Website"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use the App or visit the Website.
We are committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
1. Information We Collect
The App does not require an account or sign-in. We do not collect your name, phone number, or physical address.
The following types of information may be collected:
- App usage and analytics data: We use a third-party analytics service to collect data about how the App is used (e.g. screens visited, features used, app crashes, and error reports). Each install is assigned a randomly generated identifier so events from the same user can be grouped together (for example, to diagnose a crash or understand how a feature is used). This identifier is not linked to your real identity and is used solely to improve the App.
- Device information: Technical information such as device type, operating system version, and app version may be collected as part of analytics and crash reporting.
- Subscription data: If you purchase a subscription, the transaction is processed entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We use a third-party subscription management service to validate your purchase status. We do not receive or store your payment details, credit card number, or billing address.
- Website usage data (website only): When you visit our Website, a third-party analytics service may collect your IP address (which may be anonymised before storage), browser type and version, operating system, pages visited, time spent on each page, the page that referred you, and campaign parameters from links you clicked. This data is collected via cookies and similar tracking technologies placed in your browser.
- Feedback (optional): If you choose to submit feedback through the in-app feedback form, we collect your star rating, the free-text comments you provide, and your email address — if you choose to include one. The email address is used only so we can follow up on your feedback. You are not required to submit feedback or provide an email to use the App.
2. Information Stored on Your Device
The App stores your practice progress, test history, scores, streaks, and preferences locally on your device. This data is not transmitted to our servers. If you delete the App, this data is permanently removed.
3. Cookies
The App does not use cookies.
The Website uses cookies and similar tracking technologies to understand how visitors use the site. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings. You can also opt out of analytics tracking via your analytics provider's own opt-out tool. Disabling cookies will not affect your ability to use the App.
4. How We Use Information
The information we collect is used to:
- Understand how the App and Website are used so we can improve features and fix bugs
- Monitor app stability and diagnose technical issues
- Validate subscription purchase status
- Process feedback you submit through the in-app feedback form (only if you choose to submit it)
5. Third-Party Services
The App and Website use the following categories of third-party services:
- App analytics, crash reporting, and feedback collection: A third-party platform processes the analytics events, crash reports, and feedback form submissions described in Section 1. Each install is assigned a randomly generated identifier so events from the same user can be grouped together. This identifier is not linked to your real identity.
- Website analytics (website only): A third-party analytics service collects data about how visitors use our Website, as described in Section 1. This service may use cookies to identify returning visitors.
- Subscription management: A third-party platform validates your in-app purchases and entitlements with the relevant app store. We do not receive or store your payment details.
- App distribution platforms: Apple App Store and Google Play Store, which have their own privacy policies.
These third-party services may collect information in accordance with their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of Apple and Google for details on how they handle your data.
6. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, trade, or rent your information to third parties. Anonymous, aggregated analytics data may be processed by our third-party service providers solely for the purposes described in this policy.
We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g. a court or government agency).
7. Data Security
We take reasonable steps to protect the information associated with the App and Website. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children's Privacy
The App and Website are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided information through the App or Website, please contact us and we will take steps to remove it.
9. Your Rights
Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to:
- Request access to any personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of any inaccurate information
- Make a complaint about how we handle your information
The App collects very little personal information — only an email address and free-text comments if you choose to submit feedback. If you have any concerns or wish to exercise these rights, please contact us using the details below.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Your continued use of the App or Website after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
